Volunteer

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Serving Older Adults! Your generous offer of time provides meaningful support for the older adults we serve. Following are some of the roles that volunteers fill within the senior center.

Activity Instructors – Senior Centers rely on volunteer activity instructors to lead many of the activities at the Senior Center including exercise classes, book clubs, crafts and hobbies.

Support Services – Volunteers in support services may assist with outdoor clean-up and gardening or indoor tasks like setting up new bulletin boards/seasonal decorations, watering plants, setting up tables, and other tasks. Each center also has a gift shop and volunteers sort and price donations, set-up displays in the gift shop, and handle sales of merchandise.

Dining – Dining volunteers assist with registering new diners, taking reservations for daily meals, meal preparation or serving meals.

Office and Clerical – Volunteers in this area serve as receptionists, assist with data entry, filing and copying. We also use volunteers who have graphic design background or enjoy writing newsletters or flyers. We also need assistance with phone calls to participants.

Technical Support – If you have strong computer skills, we are looking for volunteers to assist in our Tech Connect program to help older adults become more comfortable using technology by offering some one-on-one support.

Special Events – Each Senior Center hosts special events throughout the year. Volunteers might assist with set-up and decorations, registration for the event, entertainment, raffles, and clean-up.

Facility Rentals – Facility Rental Volunteers are onsite during the many rental events we have throughout the year and serve as a point of contact as well as provide assistance for rental customers.
